Count On Tools Inc. Unveils StripFeeder Mini System

Posted by Z.Shook on 2/24/2015 to Count On Tools News

Count On Tools Inc. (COT), a leading provider of precision components and SMT spare parts, has launched the next version of its award-winning StripFeeder System for loading tape-and-reel components onto compact modules for prototyping and high-mix, low-volume applications. The StripFeeder Mini features the same award-winning design of the original StripFeeder in a smaller, compact package (134mm x 152mm). This package is ideally suited for smaller prototype and rework machines as well as most SMT pick-and-place equipment.

The StripFeeder Mini’s compact design is better equipped to handle short strips of components, such as 2-4" of tape for both prototyping and low-volume, high-mix applications. It offers increased lane capacity with the ability to run two StripFeeder Minis in the same space as one original StripFeeder. The Mini is a lower cost option than OEM feeders, both standard and custom.

Additionally, the StripFeeder Mini features removable rails that can be mounted to accommodate a wide array of tape sizes in the same feeder. Unlike fixed width feeders, the StripFeeder Mini can be adjusted by removing the rails and re-positioning them on the base plate at the desired width (4mm pitched pattern). The rails align with precision pin locaters and lock down tightly with magnets to guarantee a stable, repeatable application.

The StripFeeder Mini rails also feature a mechanical lock-spring to hold the tape in place by the sprocket hole for part registration and repeatable pick-and-place applications. This means the user only has to teach the pick-up location one time and consistently reload the unit with the same parts over and over for longer runs.

The innovative design holds the components securely in the machined tracks to prevent parts from being miss-picked, flipped in the pocket or lost. Customers also can remove rails to accommodate larger components up to 120mm tape width. The StripFeeder Mini system is compatible with most types of SMT equipment.

The StripFeeder systems are a cost effective way to load many components, including odd-form and custom components, without having to purchase expensive feeders. The quick-to-assemble, easy-to-install modules are designed for rapid loading of tape-and-reel components on existing SMT pick-and-place equipment. Additionally, the trays enable fast changeover between product runs without unloading from the machine.

The StripFeeder trays are compatible with both paper and emboss tape simultaneously, and are ideal for low-volume high-mix applications and prototyping.

Count On Tools Introduces ezCLIP Universal Stop Clip for PCB Magazine Racks

Posted by Z.Shook on 11/1/2014 to New SMT Products

Count On Tools Inc. (COT), a leading provider of precision components and SMT spare parts, introduces the new ezCLIP universal stop clip for PCB magazine racks. The ezCLIP system was created to allow electronics manufacturers who manually load/unload PCB magazine racks a simple way to distinguish required spacing between boards and to prevent damage on boards with taller components.

At this time, companies who operate without the ezCLIP system must manually check each board when loading the PCB magazine rack to ensure that they are spaced correctly. Failure to confirm correct spacing can lead to damaged components that are critical to the board’s operation. With the ezCLIP installed on the PCB magazine rack, companies can quickly identify which card guides should be skipped as they prevent boards from being inserted. This allows for faster set-up times for the production run and swift manual loading and unloading of the boards during assembly, reflow, rework, inspection and more.

The ezCLIP system offers the lowest cost option for safely marking board spacing on PCB magazine racks for quick loading with the proper component height tolerances. Single lane ezCLIPS are available in packs of 50 for $100.00. This package would allow users to disable 25 lanes of the PCB magazine rack. Double lane ezCLIPS also are available in packs of 50 for $150.00. The double lane clips allow users to disable 50 lanes of the PCB magazine rack.

The ezCLIP is manufactured from high quality spring steel and coated for long life use. Installation is simple; just push the clip over the PCB magazine rack slot that needs to be skipped. The bright finish is a visual cue that the cardguide slot is not available and is easily distinguishable across a variety of electronics manufacturing operations.
