Count On Tools Offers Glue Dispense Nozzles for Universal Instruments’ GDM Line

Posted by Z. Shook on 11/4/2010 to New SMT Products

Count On Tools Inc., a leading provider of precision components and SMT spare parts, announces that it now offers Glue Dispense Nozzles for the Universal Instruments GDM line of equipment.

Both single and dual port versions are available for all standard nozzle IDs and pitch configurations. Count On Tools also provides custom engineered glue dispense nozzles based on customer-specific application requirements.

In the competitive electronics business, electronic manufacturers need higher levels of performance and accuracy from assembly equipment. When combined with Count On Tools nozzles, the GDM dispensing equipment delivers the flexibility, speed, dot consistency and placement accuracy required for efficient surface mount manufacturing.

Because the diameter of the dot is integrally related to the nozzle ID and nozzle standoff, glue dispense nozzle performance relies a great deal on the overall wear and tolerances of the standoff. With the repeated force of the nozzle standoff hitting the PCB, significant mechanical wear on the glue dispense nozzle can be observed. The amount of wear depends on the type of solder mask used on the PCB and the type of metal used in the nozzle construction. Count On Tools developed its GDM nozzle series with the initiative that superior quality metals would provide longer life to the nozzle standoff, therefore increasing performance and output from the glue dispense needles.

It is always important to monitor the mechanical wear so that the nozzle performance remains optimal. Once a certain amount of wear is achieved, the result is a smaller dot diameter range capability. Low standoffs limit the size of the large dots, and as the standoff wears further down, the adhesive can contaminate the dispensing tip.
All nozzles are guaranteed to function properly with the original equipment. Every glue dispense nozzle manufactured by Count On Tools comes standard with a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee. If any customer is not 100 percent satisfied with the performance or quality of a product, Count On Tools will replace it or offer a full refund.

Count On Tools Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Posted by Z. Shook on 11/3/2010 to Count On Tools News

Count On Tools Inc., a leading provider of precision components and SMT spare parts, is pleased to announce the company’s 20-year anniversary.

In 1991, Curt Couch, President of Count On Tools became a U.S. distributor of PB Swiss Tools, formerly known as PB Baumann Hand Tools. This business led to his further research in the Surface Mount Technology and electronics manufacturing industry, and ultimately, the creation of Count On Tools Inc.

“What started out 20 years ago on a shoe-string budget has steadily grown into a business far exceeding anyone's expectations," said Curt Couch. "We are all very proud of this accomplishment and grateful to our customers and employees who helped get us here.”

Count On Tools manufactures high-quality, low-cost pick-and-place nozzles and associated components for the SMT and electronics manufacturing industries. Proven engineering expertise, coupled with the company’s commitment to manufacturing excellence and investment in the latest production equipment, ensures that innovation and competitiveness is applied to all of its extensive product range.

"During our first 20 years, our focus on customer service has never wavered. We understand that SMT consumables, for instance, demand a quick response. Because we offer high quality replacement tooling for all major OEMs, whether for a small contract manufacturer or an EMS company, we have been able to deliver timely solutions again and again with very satisfied customers. By being in touch with our customer base, we also have been able to anticipate their needs and grow with their business. That's one of the major reasons why we have been so successful. We very much look forward to the next 20 years," added Couch.

Count On Tools continues to offer original rework services as well as custom tooling/nozzle design services and new nozzle offerings. Each year, the company produces thousands of custom nozzle designs for an array of components, from LEDs to connectors and switches. When asked what was most important about custom tooling products, Couch said, “We don’t just sell nozzles; we offer solutions that allow our customers to place any odd-form component without having to invest in new specialized equipment or to resort to hand assembly. Our goal is to optimize efficiency and save our customers money by maximizing the capabilities of the SMT equipment that they already use for production.”

Count On Tools’ standard nozzle range consists of every major SMT OEM, from Fuji to Mydata to Panasonic, Assembleon, Yamaha, Siemens, Universal and more. Count On Tools has become a worldwide leader in replacement nozzles and associated consumables for the electronics manufacturing industry.

Count On Tools Introduces RPS Solder Nozzles

Posted by Z. Shook on 11/2/2010 to New SMT Products

Count On Tools Inc., a leading provider of precision components and SMT spare parts, announces that the company is now manufacturing RPS Automation Selective Solder Nozzles for the Rhythm, Harmony, Opus and SS100A range of selective soldering machines.

As Selective soldering becomes more popular in the electronics manufacturing industry, Count On Tools has realized the need for higher quality selective solder nozzles that can consistently apply flux and solder to component leads without disturbing nearby SMT components. Count On Tools custom selective solder nozzles assist to replace labor-intensive hand soldering while eliminating defects caused by wave soldering machines in the market’s most popular selective soldering equipment.

By utilizing superior steel alloys made in the USA along with the latest precision machining technologies, Count On Tools is able to produce selective soldering nozzles that are more durable and last longer than those from the OEM while still maintaining all of the original Gaussian design properties. The unique nozzle design increases solder wave height and precision, improving the ability to solder in tight spaces and around nearby components.

Count On Tools now offers custom selective solder nozzles based on specific application requirements. This includes special wave form sizes and extended or shortened lengths. Generally, these nozzles can be completed in three to five days with savings up to 50 percent less than OEM nozzles. Count On Tools also provides identification marks that enable customers to easily identify lead nozzles from lead-free versions.

“During the development of our selective soldering product line, we strived to design a nozzle that would outperform OEM designs by lasting longer without wearing, being both more accurate and working more consistently over time in the selective soldering process. These three processes are critical in the function of this equipment. We were able to not only meet this goal, but also to lower the cost of the nozzle,” said Zachery Shook, Marketing Director of Count On Tools, Inc.

All nozzles are guaranteed to function properly with the original equipment. Every selective solder nozzle manufactured by Count On Tools comes standard with a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee. If any customer is not 100 percent satisfied with the performance or quality of a product, Count On Tools will replace it or offer a full refund.
